Questions and Answers

Thank you so much for considering us a part of the oCAKEsion! Here are a list of frequestly asked questions that may help you on your cake journey.

How do I book my cake?

Simply email me the details or use my online order form. I check my emails and respond Mondays-Thursday. We will have a back and forth discussion on cake flavors, designs, servings, and time/day of event. To make this process easier, please include all of this information along with any cake “inspirations”. Please allow up to 72 hours for response, especially during the weekends.

If you choose to send an email, please title your email “Cake for (your name/event) on (day/time of event)”.

Once we decide what works best for you, a retainer is due to reserve/”book” your spot in my calendar.

Why do I have to pay a deposit?

Especially during a busy season, it is absolutely important to save your day! A retainer secures your spot in my calendar. I use these funds to buy ingredients, special equipment, shipping costs, and any other relevant purchases for your event.

How much time do you really need to make my cake?

As I am a custom cake maker, I do require at least 1 week to prepare and 1 week to make the cake, a total of 2 weeks. No, your cake will not ever sit in my freezer/refrigerator for 2 weeks. I need the time to schedule in kitchen time, driving and shopping for ingredients and materials like the cake board or fondant-they do take time. Many times, if I cannot find them locally, I order them online, and these items do take time to get here. (We can “rush” items to get here on time, but it will be billed to you directly). And for any custom toppers, fondant flowers, they do take time to mature. If you really need a cake in less time, still contact me, there may be other options we can entertain.

Do your cakes taste good with all those decorations?

Absolutely! Everything made in my kitchen is made from scratch and taste tested daily for best quality. I have tested and altered these recipes to make sure they are nothing less than dreamy! I make sure to not make it too sweet, too dry, or too moist. I literally am OBSESSED with cake. Once cakes are delivered/picked up by you, they must be kept refrigerated to maintain the best quality. Cake can be left out no longer than 20 minutes (summer) to 1 hour (winter) prior to serving.

Do you make Bachelor/Bachelorette cakes?

Sorry, we do not make any X-rated cake. This includes any body part, violence, weapons, or extreme idea designs. There are many other bakeries in the valley who specialize on those things.

Do you do anything else besides cakes?

Yes I do! I can do cookies, cupcakes, cake pops, rice krispies treats, tarts,… if its sweet, I can make it! I do require a cake order WITH these specialty items. Check out our dessert menu

Do you do cake tastings?

Yes, we can absolutely do a cake tasting! We do them a bit differently in Ocakesions-land. We do take home cake tastings. We want YOU to enjoy the cakes and figure out what works best for you and your ocakesion. We found that our clients enjoy taking the cakes home to take their time and try it without any bias or pressure from us. Afterwards, we then schedule a consultation over zoom/FB messenger/or through the phone to figure out all the other details. Send an inquiry for more information

How much do your cake costs?

It all depends on your design, cake flavor and how many servings you will need. Be specific on your event. I will need those details. Specialty flavors and add ins do have additional costs. We do require a $75 minimum order. This can get you a very cute 6” cake which can feed 6-10 people. Cakes must be paid in full 1 week prior to event.

What types of payments do you accept?

Payments are accepted through our online invoices are credit and debit cards only. We only accept contactless payments at this time.

How about if I need to cancel my order?

Sorry to hear that you will need to cancel your event. Please understand that I do not have a store front and just “sell” your canceled cakes openly to the public. Therefore if you do decide to cancel, you forfeit your retainer. If the day changes, you have more/less guests arriving, let me know ASAP. Rescheduling fee may apply.

Can I pick up my cake?

Certainly! Please let me know at the time of booking the estimated time you will pick up your order. (Any cake 2 tiers or bigger requires a delivery—no exception.) Please call or text when you arrive and our representative will come meet you at your car and help you load your treats. It is your responsibility to check the cake before leaving because once it is out of our hands, it is no longer our responsibility. Do you deliver?

Yes I do! I prefer to hand deliver your cake. Delivery is free for orders $250+ and/ or within a 5 mile drive. Anywhere below $250 or beyond 5 miles does require a delivery/handling fee.

Delivery is usually scheduled the week of the event, so please make sure to provide an up to date phone number and email address. Any cake 2 tiers or larger must be delivered—no exceptions. Please also check if your location will have refrigeration. We schedule deliveries between 30 mins to 2 hours prior to the event. It is your responsibility to check the cake upon delivery. Once we leave, we are no longer responsible to how the cake is handled and there will be no refunds due to damage at the location. Please keep cake and other treats away from the sunlight, wind, and heat to prevent any damages.

I messed up the cake. Can you fix it?

It happens! Contact us IMMEDIATELY! Take pictures/videos and privately send it to us through FB messenger or email. If this is something we can walk you through video call, we will. If it requires more work, our chef can be contracted out for a minimum of $200 for up to 2 hours for fixing any cake/dessert. We cannot guarantee chef availability if required. There are ways to save cake and sometimes the cake can’t be saved, unfortunately.

Do you offer cake cutting services?

We do not offer this service. Many venues will provide this service to you. Some may charge, and some may include it in their packages. Be up front with your venue/restaurant before booking any event. If you are doing this privately in your home without any coordinator, we suggest finding a trustworthy guest to help cut your cake. We can share some you tube video links and visual aids to help you get the best and most slices from your cake.

What does edible and inedible mean?

Edible parts of your cake are the cake/sponge, cake filling, buttercream icing, and any fruit, fondant, candies added on.

Inedible pieces of your cake may include but are not limited to the cake box, cake plate, flowers, paper or acrylic toppers, ribbon, toothpicks, skewers and straws.

These are common sense pieces. If you need to ask if you can eat the cake plates, we may not take your order seriously. Please use cake as what they are intended for— eating. Do not smash cake into any body part that belong to you or others.

What is your refund policy?

We do not offer refunds or exchanges on any order that meet our quality standards once items have been picked up/delivered and accepted by you. If there was something significantly wrong and items were brought back, we will consider a refund if it does not meet our standards.
